Lucky tells the story of the three times my mother visited the Byodo Temple-In, in Oahu, Hawaii from the perspective of a cat named Lucky. I visited the temple for the first time on her most recent trip in 2021, when we saw a black cat sitting on a gravestone as we drove in, later inspiring Lucky.
